Here is your opportunity to channel the full extent of your knowledge, skills, ambition, and experience on a daily basis. Inspire our patients to progress each day as you:
• Reviews all relevant data prior to administering occupational therapy treatment.
Reviews all data, including the occupational therapy evaluation, the plan of care, short-term goals, and long term goals.
• Administers delegated skilled occupational therapy treatment per the occupational therapy plan of care.
• Monitors and communicates patient response to occupational therapy treatment.
• Modifies treatment and plan of care per patient ability/response and occupational therapist direction.
• Assists the occupational therapist with patient preparation for discharge.
Assists with patient and family instruction in safety, living skills, equipment use and home exercise.
• Documents treatment, patient performance, progress, response to care, and tests/measurements.
Ensures occupational therapy documentation is in compliance with regulating and licensing bodies and professional standards.
Documents patient care on appropriate forms following corporate and hospital policy and procedures. Bills occupational therapy in compliance with corporate policy and regulation bodies.
• Schedules patients for occupational therapy treatments according to availability of equipment and space.
• Coordinates patient's schedule with other services.
• Meets position requirements and performs essential functions.
Successfully completes all assigned training and annual skills competency as determined by the hospital based on new responsibilities, specialized equipment, high risk/problem prone/or low volume procedures including but not limited to waived testing as applicable, application of restraints, and emergency response techniques. Understands and demonstrates standards related to discipline.
Maintains current licensure and certifications.
Reviews new or revised policies and procedures.
Utilizes hospital and corporate education resources.
Completes mandatory training and courses required by completion date.
• Assists director with collecting productivity measures.
• Knows how specific department performance impacts the overall hospital financials.
• Assists in controlling FTE and supply use.
Makes recommendations to the supervisor on departmental equipment needs.
• Suggests processes for improvement.
• Reviews data on patient outcomes, satisfaction and safety for performance improvement.
• Organizes, plans, and manages time effectively to complete assignments.
• Reports questionable situations, concerns, complaints or harassment immediately.
Credentials:
• Must be in possession of current state license or certification in states where licensing is not required, as an occupational therapy assistant; defer to state practice act.
• BLS (CPR) required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire within this role
Minimum Qualifications:
• Inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred.
Machines, Equipment Used:
• Therapy equipment and general office equipment such as computer/laptop, telephone, copy/fax machine, calculator, scanner, etc.
• Microsoft Office software, to include Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Physical Requirements:
• Visual acuity, speech recognition, speech clarity.
• Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds including medical supplies and equipment and the transferring and repositioning of patients. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements.
Skills and Abilities:
• Oral communication, written communication, active listening. Must be able to speak and understand English.
• Information ordering, deductive reasoning, social perceptiveness, time management, critical thinking.
• Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner.
• Ability to work independently without continuous supervision.
Environmental Conditions:
• Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure.
• Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required.
• Handicapped accessible.
• May work under stressful circumstances at times.
Proficiency or Productivity Standards:
• Has regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and punctuality.
• Adheres to dress code including wearing ID badge.
• Adheres to Standards of Business Conduct.
• May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines.
• May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
• Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e., before, during or after a disaster.
• May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives.
• May be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
