Our mission extends beyond hospital walls through financial and volunteer efforts that strengthen people and organizations across the country. With the support of our employees, we focus on five key areas: rehabilitation-related healthcare, human services, education, and art and culture. These initiatives not only create healthier, stronger communities but also give our employees meaningful ways to make a difference outside of their specific roles.

One of our largest initiatives is our partnership with the American Stroke Association’s Together to End Stroke campaign. Since 2019, we have worked side by side to spread awareness that stroke is treatable, beatable, and preventable. In 2024 alone, we cared for more than 45,000 stroke patients and continue to educate communities through local events such as the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women luncheons. Employees across our hospitals also volunteer with local chapters, serve on boards, and provide education about stroke prevention and recovery.

Our Home Office in Birmingham, Alabama, plays an active role in community giving, showing the impact that collective action can have. In 2024, 84 percent of employees contributed to the United Way campaign, raising nearly $680,000. Our team also supports Habitat for Humanity by building homes that provide affordable housing opportunities for local families. These projects allow employees to use their time and talents to directly touch the lives of those around them.

We also take pride in caring for one another. The C.A.R.E. Fund, created by employees, provides financial assistance to colleagues who face unexpected hardships caused by natural disasters. Since its start, the fund has supported more than 1,400 employees and their families with temporary housing, food, and other essentials. Encompass Health matches every donation, doubling the impact of employees who give and ensuring the fund remains a source of hope during difficult times.
